Ordering & Sizing
What's the difference between 13-count and 18-count canvas? The "count" refers to how many stitches fit per inch. 13-count has larger, more open holes — it stitches up faster and is easier for beginners. 18-count is finer, with more detail and a smaller finished size for the same design. If you're new to needlepoint, 13-count is the more forgiving choice.
What thread should I use with my canvas? Most Stitch Witch canvases are designed for Silk & Ivory or a similar wool/silk blend thread, which gives good coverage without being too bulky. Some of our canvases come in 18-count mesh, which gives finer detail than its 13-count cousin — for these, we recommend a high-quality silk thread like Pepper Pot Silks or something similar.
How do I know what size the finished piece will be? Finished size depends on both the canvas count and the stitch count of the design.
Is this canvas good for a beginner? Yes — most of our designs work well for confident beginners, especially in 13-count. If a design has a lot of fine detail (like small text or intricate borders), we'll note that on the product page.
Finishing
Do you offer finishing services? Yes — see our Finishing Services page for pillow, ornament, and framing options once your piece is stitched.
Can I finish the canvas myself? Absolutely. Many stitchers finish their own pieces as pillows, coasters, or framed art.
Shipping & Care
How fast does my order ship? Orders ship within 2–3 business days.
Do you ship internationally? Not at the moment — we currently ship within the United States only. We hope to expand shipping options in the future, so check back or join our email list for updates.
How do I care for a finished needlepoint piece? Spot clean whenever possible — gently dab the area with a damp cloth and mild soap rather than soaking the whole piece. If a full clean is needed, hand wash in cool water with a gentle detergent, then lay flat to dry away from direct sunlight. Avoid wringing or machine washing, since that can distort the stitches and canvas shape. When not on display, store your piece in a cool, dry place to help keep colors vibrant and prevent damage.
Classes
Do I need any experience to take a class? No — our 3-hour class covers the continental, basketweave, and tent stitch from scratch. All skill levels are welcome, and true beginners are especially encouraged.
What's included in the class? Canvas, thread, needles, and stretcher bars are all provided — just show up ready to stitch.
How many people are in each class? Classes are capped at 10 students for a mix of personal attention and group energy.
Wholesale
Do you offer wholesale pricing? Yes — see our Wholesale page for details on our discount structure for retailers.
